Frequently asked questions
Will the clocks stop changing?
Not for now. The UK has no plans to scrap the clock change. In the EU, the European Parliament voted in 2019 to end it, but member states never agreed, so the current rules still apply.
Does my phone change automatically?
Yes. Smartphones, computers and radio-controlled clocks update themselves. You will usually need to change the oven, microwave, car clock and older alarm clocks by hand.
What is BST?
British Summer Time (BST) is GMT+1. It applies from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October; the rest of the year the UK is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
